    Default Help Pick a Hike

April 9-14th. flying from MKE in WI to ATL and using shuttle services.

    A) Approach to Springer Mountain
    Springer Mountain to Cemetery
    Cemetery to Jutus Creek
    Jutus Creek to Woody Gap
    Woody Gap to Woods Hole
    Woods Hole to Neels Gap

    OR

    B) Approach to Springer Shelter
    Springer to Horse Gap
    Horse gap to Gooch Gap
    Gooch Gap to Baker Mt
Baker Mountain to either a last night on trail or head back to a cheap airport hotel

Open to lots of suggestion or tips. We would love to stay between 8-9miles each day as this is our first trip out this year and we like extra time for exploring or even just sitting for lunch if we want.

I didn't do the approach but here's what I did from Springer on. Day 1 started about 2:00 due to travel time) Springer to Hickory Flats, ( I assume that's the cemetery you're referring to). Day 2: Hickory Flats to Gooch Mtn Shelter. Day 3: Gooch to Lance Creek Restoration site. Day 4: Lance Creek to Neel Gap. Fairly even miles each day. I too wanted to keep the miles to 10 or less.
I may never get to thru hike but I'll never get through hiking.

Not sure how I got that frowny face on there. It should have said Day 1:

At that time of the year you are required to pack a bear canister if you camp overnight anywhere between Lance Creek and Neels Gap (that's a 7.4 mile stretch), so you might want to avoid Woods Hole Shelter, Slaughter Creek Campsite or Blood Mountain Shelter.
