About 6 years ago when crossing rt 302 in N.H. we came across a moose that had just been killed via car accident and was amazed at the amount of ticks that were attached to the moose. This past year here in CT. my dog and I had at least 50 ticks attached coming off the Metacomet trail in early November.
Ticks devastating the New England moose population isn't that much a recent discovery. I was hearing accounts of it as early as 2005.
Pick up a just about any terrestrial snake here in Florida and you'll see it's carry a bunch of passengers. I've seen deer down here with hundreds of them as well...anywhere you have high numbers of ticks, the local wildlife are going to be hit hard.
