Default Is the Kinsey Creek Trail open now (1/12/17)

I see we have some great weather this week and I want to hike the Standing Indian loop. When I look up the Kinsey Creek Trail (access to AT from Standing Indian Campground) it says the trail is accessible April - Oct? If I drive out there am I going to find the road blocked or something?

Thanks for your help and perhaps helping me avoid a 5 hour drive to find I can't take the hike.

Don't quote me on this but I think just the campground is closed during that time...

    but trails can be accessed.....

i would think if one parks at the backcountry kiosk thing that is just outside the campground, you should be able to hike in...

probably the gate is right at entrance to campground.....

    Cool

Thanks TNhiker. That is what I am hoping for. I am still hoping to hear from someone that lives close and knows. If not I will head out there based on your and my optimistic assumption.

I got a smart idea for a change and called the ranger station out there. They said the roads are open basically to the campground and closed from that point on. So yes, I can get to the Kinsey Creek trail currently.

    Thanks and happy hiking!

I'm a big fan of this loop hike. Haven't hiked it since the fires. Could you kindly give us a mini trip report on the trail conditions and water situation when you return? Thanks much and have a great hike.
