Anyone else see the film "Wildlike"?

I recently saw this film and thought it had a very realistic backpacking theme. It is about a troubled teenage girl that ultimately tags along with a backpacker in Denali. Worth a view IMO.

I watched it. I didn't find it to be very realistic. She went to Denali with no appropriate gear and tagged along with a more experienced backpacker who wasn't expecting her. In RL, it would be highly unlikely that he'd have enough gear and food for the both fo them.

It was a response to the OP's comment that the movie had a very "realistic" backpacking theme -- not commentary on whether or not I could suspend my disbelief and enjoy the movie.

I like the movie. If you dislike the movie because it "isn't real to hiking", perhaps you should look into documentaries.

I also like how hikers think they will starve to death if they go a day or two without eating. If I went on a 5 day trip and had to split my food unexpectedly, I would still be alive after the 5 days. In fact, if I went 5 days without food while hiking 15-18 miles a day, I would still be alive on the 5th day.

Good film! It starts off slowly but was surprisingly moving by the end. Definitely worth the time, and even if you don't enjoy the story, the Alaskan scenery is nice.

It's streaming on Netflix.

Of course she went to Denali without appropriate gear...that's the point of her situation and also being a 15/16yo girl...they don't think.

Excellent observation. It is definitely true about girls age 15, at least many of them. Boys? I don't know, but it probably applies to the 15 year old who went on a walk up Chimney Tops trail in the Smokies 3 weeks ago. If watched, would a 15 year old come away with a greater appreciation for adult leadership? Seems to me that TRUE GRIT gives the opposite message. Wildlife has just been bumped up on my list frosting. by the fireside while it snows outside,

I watched it last night after reading about it here. I liked it but, (without giving anything away), I didn't really care for the ending. Like someone else said, the scenery alone is worth the watch.

Watched "Tracks" last night and I saw "Wildlike" few months ago. Both are good movies worth watching and better than most on Netflix IMHO. I will watch "Last Cab to Darwin" this weekend.

No, it's about a teen who's mom sends her to stay with her uncle in Alaska. Mom doesn't know what the uncle did the last time. He does the same thing while she stays with him and eventually runs away to Denali (wasn't her goal to "backpack")

Yeah, it might not seem like it but we are talking about the same movie. The teen like woman I mentioned is the teen you mentioned and the older man I mentioned is the backpacker who runs into this teen while she ran away from the uncle.

Just watched it. It was good, the wife and I enjoyed it. Would have really liked to see the uncle get a beating there at the end

I think that was implied... I was under the impression that the man went there to probably kill the uncle, sparing her from his predation forever, or at least to give him the most savage beating of his life, after which he would meet back up with her and take care of her.

The scenery was incredible, definitely worth a watch.

Decent movie, my wife and I enjoyed it. Having done lots of hiking/climbing in AK, seems realistic, I assume it was indeed filmed up there? Might have to re-watch it, just saw it on Netflix again.
