I think that was implied... I was under the impression that the man went there to probably kill the uncle, sparing her from his predation forever, or at least to give him the most savage beating of his life, after which he would meet back up with her and take care of her.

The scenery was incredible, definitely worth a watch.

Read the book - may have to watch the movie now.

This movie, unlike other boilerplate "hiker-porn" films (slang for trail movies: "Oh, I've been there!") was entertaining - and I thought pretty realistic. I found it particularly cool that the guy hiking was continuously trying to solve the hike-crises created by the mystery guest, and wasn't a total "pink blazer" in the process. There was actually something rookies could find useful here beyond get a pack and go "Wild" it'll be OK! I've met some runaways and outlaws too out there, and they do need lots of help. I'm fairly certain that given what I carry for myself, I could support somebody else for as long as it took to get back to "the real world". (Just ask Rockit - LMFAO!) Course I carry for comfort, and not necessarily speed - on vacation I take my time with it. This movie gets a gold star on Pilgrim's fridge chart.

I like the movie. If you dislike the movie because it "isn't real to hiking", perhaps you should look into documentaries.

I also like how hikers think they will starve to death if they go a day or two without eating. If I went on a 5 day trip and had to split my food unexpectedly, I would still be alive after the 5 days. In fact, if I went 5 days without food while hiking 15-18 miles a day, I would still be alive on the 5th day.

Totally forgot about this one! I love that actress too - in real life! Camels: yuk. Good flick though. Pretty sure that is Kylo Ren's breakout role as the irritating journalist from Nat Geo. (Adam Driver)

Watched "Tracks" last night and I saw "Wildlike" few months ago. Both are good movies worth watching and better than most on Netflix IMHO. I will watch "Last Cab to Darwin" this weekend.

A bit of trivia. The backpacker in Wildlike has a supporting role in SPECTRAL. Also on Netflix.

Bruce Greenwood has been in a few things that I've really enjoyed. Good actor.

Thank you for the recommendation. Just finished watching it. I would never have known about it if not for this thread. I enjoyed it.

    Thanks for the Tracks mention.
    That lady had True Grit!
    A walkabout with 4 camels isn't exactly a hike.
    She done good!

One more current netflix trail movie, this one a documentary, "finding traction", an account of some lady's attempt at breaking the Long Trail fkt. Not a great movie, no where near as good as the two discussed here, but gives one an idea on how tough the LT is. (I wanted my wife to see what I recently did)

I don't know. A couple camels were treated harshly.
