Amicalola to Unicoi Gap starting Sunday Nov 20 - join me

So far it's just me and my Lab. Driving from Florida to Helen GA on Saturday. Sunday morning meet a shuttle at 8am at Unicoi. I have room for two more in the shuttle. Shuttle from Unicoi to Approach Trail at Amicalola. I have identified water sources using recent posts on Guthook's app. Plan to overnight at Stover Creek (3.8), Justus Creek (14.3), Lance Creek (24.5), Neel Gap (31.7), Low Gap (43.2), out on Friday at Unicoi (52.9). The exit is 16 miles south of Dick's Creek Gap where the trail is closed. I can shuttle you from Unicoi back to Amicalola or somewhere close. I'll be driving through Atlanta back to Florida on Friday. Send a PM if interested in talking.

Also would welcome any feedback about this plan from folks in that area.

What's the latest on the N Ga fires / smoke situation?

Smoke from Rough Ridge fire may affect this portion of the trail if winds are from WNW. Wind forecast is for each day starting Sunday are NW, NNW, S, SSE, NW, NW. I'll check with our shuttle driver today. He lives in Helen.

Approach to Stover is a haul at ~12mi. Mainly due to the initial climb from the park up to the Springer summit. Enjoy! I may be out there along that section at some point this weekend.

I appreciate that! We are starting about 10am. Will ask shuttle to drive us up High Shoal Rd as far as he will to cut off a few miles. Will bring plenty of water in case we have to overnight before Stover.
