If you could keep a carrot of a cookie just out of reach, you could probably have this item with a little trip through the Grayson Highlnads.

One of them thar New Year's Eve noise marker things.
In all honesty with the exception of answers posted above like new knees a weight pill winning lottery ticket etc....
Realistically my kit/kits are right were I want them to be and am happy with them.
They are always changing and evolving with different stuff for different hikes but I think that all the realistic dream items I could have for backpacking/hiking I already have in my kits that suits me fine.
Now if we are talking about non related hiker trash garb then that new limited edition Bugatti would be quite nice under the tree this holiday time
If I die trying now I wont die wondering how life could have turned out.....
I would really like one of those new high-end blow up mattresses.

I can't top that.
I was going to say that my dream item, an Ursack Major, arrived earlier this week.

a wheelbarrow and somebody to push me up the hills in it?
A cast iron skillet that is exactly like the one I use at home, but only weighs 3 oz.

I'd like one of those sub 20oz quilts that can keep me warm down into the teens.
I have one of those fancy light weight chairs and I love it
A sherpa that really loves cooking.....and cleaning.... and can carry on an intelligent conversation.
At this point I'm pretty thrilled with the gear we have, except for the old Sierra Design rain gear. Maybe an upgrade to that would be a good Christmas present...
Elf actually does more mountaineering than I do. I don't do anything long-distance in winter Up North - I switch to peak-bagging and the occasional low-elevation overnight. I'm not geared up for the expeditions he has in mind. (Nor am I in shape for them. I'm taking baby steps to get back into hiking after eye and foot problems forced me out of it for over a year. If I do as much as I want to, I'll wind up right back in rehab.)
I always know where I am. I'm right here.
The perfect shoes, the Holy Grail of all hiking gear for me!
Ko Absolutely nothing.
Gear makes little difference
Time......makes all the difference in the world
