Update for mine, my brother cannot hike with me, his finances are not good for this coming year, so he is planning on 2019 to give plenty of time.

    From my original:
    No trail name yet
    NOBO
Monday after Kickoff weekend - March 6th
Approach Trail - Undecided, more than likely.
Keep up with my pre-train for my 2017 thru hike, and the planned thru hike, starting in March, at escapingtheoffice.com

Don't doubt what your body can accomplish, it can do more than you think.

I've been wanting to do a thru-hike for as far back as I can remember and I won't do it without her. I'll carry her every step of the way if I have to

Well I know of the smokies, but is there another section I don't know of?

I'm pretty sure Shenandoah NP in Virginia and Baxter State Park in Maine don't allow dogs.

Your name sounds really familiar. Did we meet Trail days 2009. Stump camp?

Probably no approach trail. IMHO trail's long enough as it is, no need to add on a few miles .

Over 200 hikers planning a long distance hike this year! Check out the spreadsheet here. There should be at least 4 hikers hiking today...

Don't forget to also register with ATC and check out their graphs of start dates.

Let me know if I have made any errors or if you have made changes!

    Good Luck and Have Fun!

    I don't have a specific start date, but probably 18th or 19th.
Not sure about the approach trail yet. Like someone else said, the trail is long enough already, why add more miles?

Can someone explain the approach trail a little better? I'm a bit confused as I've only read about the hike and not actually seen the maps yet. Also I'm not on the graph yet for the class of 17'. I'll be leaving the 27th of March.

Are you sure you're ready? Not even having looked at a map with less than 2 months to go sounds like you may need some planning skills.
