Default What happened to the elevation maps by Section?

It's been awhile but there used to be elevation maps by section on this site. Are those no longer available?

Is there another source anyone can recommend? Looking at hiking from Devil's Fork to Erwin.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't remember them being on this site, but someone else may. Have you looked at the digital version of the AWOL guide? Makes it really easy to look through any area's profile.

They were on this site, I have them saved to my PC and use them regularly however I have learned from walking the trail that they are not very accurate other than "oh there a huge climb there". I am speaking of the green profile maps by state.

Chris Johnson AKA Mr Parkay had a great number of maps and profiles on his site. Unfortunately his site closed? a few years ago.

If you want good elevation maps, you can easily make them yourself.

    1. Click here to Acquire the KML/GPX of the section you're interested in.
    2. Import it as a route to CalTopo.com
    3. Split the route so that the area you want to see is now its own route.
    4. Right click the new route and choose Profile or Terrain Statistics to see elevation data.
