Thread: Oregon in May

    Default Oregon in May

Hello all. I may have an opportunity to get out for a week next May/early June with my nephew after college graduation. I am from the east coast so have no idea how the PCT is at that time of year. I am looking for nice trail, some views, and all the goodness I have read about on the PCT. Is Oregon, Washington, or California the best choice?

I was hiking south on the PCT out of Cascade Locks this past May 4-13, and there was too much snow on the trail to get much past Wahtum lake. Next year could be totally different, but I think I'd still count on snow being around the trail in May generally.
Here is a good forum for hiking in Oregon. www.oregonhikers.org
Many friendly folks there to give good points on hiking around there.

That being said, even if the PCT is still snowy, there are many wonderful trails that will be open by then, so no shortage of great places to go!
