Glad a guy with allmost no possesions left me so so much of himself.
Baltimore jack tarlin was the wealthyest man i ever knew
The treasure of hung lee is a small carved tablet of jade broken by thievs long ago into three peices.
Many have died to posses its secret. Its dollar value was once estimated in this century at 300 dollars.
But the legond of its being a map to a fabulos treasure of unimaginable wealth caused many to seek it.
I have studyed tha art the last 35 years since i discovered the tale.
Its tru meaning is more precious than any treasure of gold or jewels.
happy, is he...who is content with his lot.
    Hung lee wasnt a fool.

A poem for jack by mat

    Where have you gone sir?
My rocks and paths and skys see you not.
    Where have you gone?
    To hike another?
But i thaught we were a couple?
My springs report not the scent of your kind hand dipping.
My wind tells of no single loose hair of yours blowing.
    How is it jack?
    Could we be finnished?
I loved you so and you i.
    Wont we see each other?
What is this death i hear tell of from my animals and plants jack?
My rocks and soils know nothing of it.
My sky has no memory of age even.
    Jack?
    Jack, are you there?
    Are you in my clouds?

There are two ways to be rich:

    Get more
    Or want less

I can honestly say, older l get, less I want.
Things demand your time and attention.
Only a man with nothing is truly free

    Greedy people dont understand

If your idea of a good time is walking in the woods for weeks or months. Everything else just gets in the way.

I never got the pleasure of meeting Baltimore Jack. I have read about him as well as heard about him while on the trail. After reading all the prior postings, I would really like to go back and read some of his blogs on WB. May I ask what his WB name was? I would like to get a better reading of Baltimore Jack's opinions and comments....

Go way back. They were much more entertaining before the kinder, gentler WB.

Go to advanced search and under keyword type Tarlin. For some real fun check Forums and under keyword type politics.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing, especially at the young age of only 58. I never met him in person, but I enjoyed reading about his experiences on the AT and his endless helping of people who hiked on the AT.
