Default Anyone for splitting cab from ATL/Gaines to springer 13th/14 May

Flying to Atlanta on the evening of 12th of May, need to get to Springer, but as you're all probably well aware, public transport is none existent and the through hiker special with hiker hostel doesn't run into May.

Is there anyone starting on that day that wants to share the cost of a cab from Gainesville or Atlanta?

Getting to Gainesville from the airport, unless you have made arrangements can be time consuming, but you are out for the adventure, right? Take the Marta train to Arts Center station, walk to the Amtrak station and get the 8:04 to Gainesville. https://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak

Getting from Gainesville to Springer is where you will need to make arrangements. Finding a fellow hiker there might be difficult; a cab will cost a lot, and takes about an hour (38miles/61km). http://bit.ly/1Sx5wFl.

I just thought, I'm sure you'll need to get fuel and food prior to getting on the trail. There are two REI's near ATL. You can resupply at Mountain Crossings (neels gap) on your first trail resupply.

The furthest north you can get on public transit is Alpharetta. Take MARTA to the North Springs Station, and then take a bus ( there is an express bus at certain hours) to the Windward Parkway Park and Ride. A cab or shuttle from there would be less expensive than the airport. You can also take a bus from the North Springs Station or the Windward Parkway Park and Ride to Northpoint Parkway, where the Alpharetta REI is located, if you needed to supply.

Another possibility is the UBER cab service. Get the app and you can obtain a estimate of the cost for the trip.
