I am staying at the Econo Lodge, it is in sight of the bridge we will cross as we leave Harpers Ferry southbound, on Union street.

I wonder if they will let a car be left there for the week?

Hi. We are planning a section hike in southern VA. Since you've done this, will you recommend a place near Mt. Roger's Visitor Center where we can leave a 5-day stash of food? Thanks!
To Nhinchli, yesterday I finished a three-day hike through the Mt. Rogers area and I left my car at Hurricane Campground with no issues. Not in the campground itself, but in a little gravel lot across from it. When I called them, the lady said people do that all the time, and it's free. If you have a vehicle you can leave, that would be a good place to lock up some supplies. Even if you can't leave a car there, the people who run it might be willing to hold stuff for you, especially if you plan to pay to spend a night in the actual campground during your trip.
They let me leave my car there for 2 nights last year, so maybe...
What time are we hiking out Sunday morning? I'm trying to decide if I will have my daughter drop me off then or if I want to spend the night. Any thoughts? Dink-I left my car at the Econolodge for 2 days last year. They were real nice about it. The AT headquarters also will let you park behind their building..just call first.
Thanks, I'll make a few calls and get things settled as far as the car goes.

I thought the meet on Saturday at the ATC was so we could figure out what we were doing Sunday, that is why I booked a room.
Have my room for the 30th...just a bit over 3 weeks to go!!!
I'm so jealous. Very proud southerner here, but just now, I wish I were farther north so I could join this. Have fun ladies!

You can always get a southern ladies hike going for the fall...it is beautiful hiking when the leaves are turning!!

Got a few last minute projects done today....3/4 underquilt made and fitted to the hammock...bishop bag made to fit the hammock, bug net and underquilt all at the same time...new reflective lines put on the tarp...got the tarp and hammock all ready to clip one end, walk to the other tree and clip...that's it all set up ready to sleep!!! All that after the grandkids woke me up at 4:58AM saying the mocking bird was making too much noise in the tree right above where we were sleeping in our hammocks!
Hi, What dates are you planning your shake down hike? I've done Harper's Ferry to the Washington monument. I'd like to go from the monument to PA
border with you if it works out.
I don't get time off work for a shakedown hike and weekends are full of grandkid activities. Looks like it will be drive to Harpers Ferry the 30th, start hiking the 31st!!
This time next week we will be settling down for the 1st night on the trail!! Can hardly wait!!!
Thanks to Dink, Sandy of PA, Jebo, Ringer, Frito, Mango Face, Serenity, the Entertainer, and both Lisa's!!!!! It was a great week.
It was fantastic!! Little Blaze is going to her new home with the grandkids today...going to be spoiled rotten! 🐈
