Default Fishing on the Collegiate Peaks Loop Trail

Looking at hiking the Collegiate Loop (east and west sides) the last week of August and first week of September. Questions are: Is it worth buying an out of state fishing license? Enough places to fish? Time of year OK or too late, low water? Thanks for any info/imput!

Did you take a flyrod? Doing the same next month. How did it go?

I just saw your post (a few months late). Hope you had a great hike. Although ours was 4 years ago, it was memorable and we are in the early stages of planning a hike from the southern end of the loop near Monarch to Durango for next year. My buddy ended up bringing a fly rod back in 2016 and bought a license but he found that he didn't have much time and or energy to fish so he decided it was kind of a waste. Did you end up fishing?
