They'll have a chance to test out rain gear for the next 3 days.

I am on the trail now taking a day in town because the weather is wet. I section hiked GA about 3 months ago so just want to get thru it now. Tomorrow I will cross the GA/NC border. I signed up online and signed the book at Springer (Jake). I am older so maybe this only applies to me but, I started to fast and ended up still pretty sore. I have met about 5 hikers so far (Rooster, Rabbit, Snot, the others including me do not have trail names yet). For anyone still unsure about what pack to use, you may want to consider zpacks, I have the haul. I just opened it up a bit ago after being rained on for many hours and everything inside is bone dry, no pack cover. I find it comfortable so far. Not trying to sell anyone anything, just passing along my experience. I hike slow so look forward to seeing those who are starting up the trail . . . as you pass me. :-)

Amen! Houston was on the tail end of the mess over the south end of the AT now.

Saw a northbound hiker heading out today, not sure he was aware of the incoming bad weather(high winds possible tornadoes). my wife insisted I wait till wed after the front moves through, so here we sit at Amicalola... FYI the lodge restaurant currently is only doing buffet as the kitchen stove vents aren't working properly(so they say) foods not that great.

How many of these hikers got on thtrail? We had nasty storms last night in N Georgia, 3" of rain and high winds. Tomorrow morning (Thursday) will bring snow. The weekend looks like it will be beautiful!

The weather has been very nice recently. Don't be fooled this early. Cold weather is still likely.

My gf/hiking partner had some health issues last week, so we'll now be starting on 4/4.

Getting a bit antsy to get out there.

Hopefully that (having problems now) means that they'll be all over when you start out Hope all goes well (being about 7 miles away, if your location is correctly listed).
