    Default NOBO May 9th...

    Because of school i won't be able to start until May 9th. Is it possible to make it to Katahdin before it closes? Thanks for the help

    Sure. You have over 5 months to complete. I was more than twice your age and finished in 150 days.

    I did't start until May 15 and I made it with five days to spare. You always have the option of flip-flopping at any point along the way. There are some significant advantages to starting late - no bubble/hoard down south; better weather through the Southern Appalachians; bugs and summer crowds are gone by the time you get to New England. Summer heat in the mid-Atlantic states is a real problem but you can mitigate this a bit by starting very early and finishing early.
