I posted the question over a year ago. Based on the earlier response and other research I purchase a Buff at a super cheap price from REI. I now carry it on every trip!!! I use it almost nightly (hammock sleeper) and 24/7 in the winter. I still hike in the beanie and sleep in the balaclava, when temps drop. Yet, the Buff is used so much as a supplemental peice used in conjunction with other pieces of clothing; that it becomes the most use peice of gear. My answer to my previous original post is - yesssss - to a Buff. Although, if I wasn't such and Old Dog, Rocketsocks alternative product actually could be even more versatile than a Buff and shouldn't be overlooked.
