Anyone from the class of 1990 out there?
I started April 25 and finished October 26. Would love to find others who hiked that year...Bill Erwin and Ed Garvey are gone, but I am hoping many others are still out there.

I started April 4 of that year. Made it to Roanoke VA. Did Katahdin to Monson in September of that year. You'll find journals here: http://www.terrapinphoto.com/wp
I started March 29 in Georgia, yoyo the Long Trail, stopped and started working at the Kennebec for a couple of weeks before finishing September 13. Then came back and did seconds.
Wolf
I started on May 5 and finished on October 9th in 1990
You must have caught up to me and passed me, but I don't have your name in my log, so maybe we never met. Did you get to do any hiking with Bill Erwin or Ed Garvey?
I met Bill briefly in Damascus. Ran into Wingfoot several times. Ward L. a couple times. Hiked with LW for a bit.
Saw this thread and thought I should pop in.
My grand father "Rambling Dan" thru hiked in 1990.
I'll let him know about this page. He and I attempted a 1997 thru hike.
i hiked in 90. i know Dan
Lone wolf, I believe I may have met you in Damascus at a trail days in the mid 90's.
Grandpa (Dan) used to take me and friend when I was a a young teenager every year. That's where I fell in love with the AT and the community.
I'll tell Rambling Dan I heard from you.
I spent many evenings with Dan and his hiking buddy. That's him on the left. The photo is from NewFound Gap, 4/22/90.

Diary entry for 4/29/90. Bunch of us left Elmers place in Hot Springs that morning:
4/29, 8 PM. Spring Mtn. Shelter. A
mere 10 miles today. Didn’t feel a bit
more than 15! First, up to Lover’s Leap,
then Rich Mtn. (to lookout tower,) then
Spring Mtn. A slightly different crowd
tonight. Sue, Doug, 59/60, myself &
Dave (Lone Wolf) are camped out on a
flat rise about 100 ft. away. Tripper tenting
out back. Ramblin’ Dan & Philly Lee
& Colorado Jack & Sun-In-Face &
Moon-In-Face (Allen, Dan) in the shelter.
Right on, Rafe!
I'll be sure to show him this!
For those that knew my Grandfather "Rambling Dan", he gave up his ghost today at 83 after complications from surgery. He had been in hospital care since the beginning of the summer. He spent the last few weeks in a nursing home and is now free of suffering and at rest.
He was the most influential man/person in my life. He started my love for they outdoors since before I can remember. Forever will I remember the times I spent with him camping and backpacking, especially our south bound thru-hike attempt in 97.
I met many of his class of 90 over the years and I'm a better person for it.
The AT was in his blood until the very end.

Sorry to hear that, youngyager. Were these two photos from the '97 hike?
First one from 97, the second was from 2005 he drove me, my dad and best friend up to north Woodstock to do a hike from there to Mt. Washington.

And we were so impressed.
You never know just what you can do until you realize you absolutely have to do it.
