I was on a different site that has pop-ups, A Campmor ad came up, with an Optimus Hiker stove. $180, 7x7x4, wt. 56 oz.
Your chance to own a dinosaur. Makes me wish I hadn't lost my Svea 123.

What other dinosaurs do you own?
I have one of those, bought 40+ years ago. It's hot, heavy. and very reliable. Not a bad choice for largish groups, or severe cold.

Use my 123 regularly also have a pair of peak ones. Yep might be heavy and bulky to some but they work. Really want an Optimus 8R. Yep sure modern lighter stoves out but I dig old gear. And yes I have no issues packing them. I've seen some complain saying a svea 123 is heavy. Me personally I don't buy that it's light to me but then again I pack an axe.

I have a Svea 123 and have thought about selling. What are these worth?
Value depends on age and condition of the stove. Also if it has all the parts or not

My 123 and the Optimus solo cookset to use it in were made in Sweden. The first model Peak 1 Apex was made in the USA.

Mags, your sense of humor is wicked. I love it. Back in the early 70's, the college Outing Club used a couple of Optimus 8R stoves for their group overnight trips. I was impressed with it's indestructability, but not it's weight, so when I had the chance, I snapped up an Optimus 99 (the all-aluminum version with the removable lid that doubles as a pot). Still have it, still use it in winter (or when I know that I'll be cooking fancy meals trailside). Something oddly soothing about the roar of the Optimus stoves...Svea Stoves, too.
