most current Pinhoti trail guide?

What is the most current Pinhoti trail guide. I,m hoping some of the road walking north of Cave Springs has been replaced

I literally just finished my section hike of the BMT today. Already planning my next long distance trail. It looks like it will be the Pinhoti.

I did some preliminary research and I don't think there is a guide book like Sgt Rock's or AWOL's.

From my understanding, the Pinhoti still has significant road walks. Up to 50-60 miles in Georgia alone. There is also a big road walk (16-18 miles) after Flagg Mountain, but then there is about 140 miles of trails until near the Georgia boarder.

At one time there was a printed Trail Guide by Solo, but I don't think those are still available.

I usually print the sections from the PTA site mentioned above along with information from the links below. When referencing sections or Distance http://www.pinhotitrailalliance.org/ is the standard.

I've had and used Mr Parkay's maps for a long time, but he walked it before new trail was added at south AL end at Flagg Mountain and Rebecca Mountain. Also there is a section on the GA side where his track follows the mountain bike path around John's Mtn instead of the much more interesting footpath to the top and then 1.5 miles farther south to pass Keown Falls then east to a nice campsite by a pond a mile past the falls. This John's Mtn section was hard to navigate because GA PTA was, maybe still?, using metal printed diamonds nailed to trees instead of painted on blazes; too many metal signs missing. In a group of 8 of us, 3 or so years ago, one got completely lost and the rest had to depend on gps, maps, trial and error, AND each other to figure it out with so many signs missing.

On another section I started north from Fort Mountain State Park, the map at the state park showed the Pinhoti access through a connector trail just outside the entrance. My friend and I walked 15 minutes both east and west on GA 52 and never saw a connector trail, so we ended up with a 6+ mile road walk east on GA 52 until the Pinhoti crossed the highway.

The only thing the Alabama Pinhoti and Georgia Pinhoti have in common is that the both share the word "Pinhoti".

The AL section is AT quality, single tread, well blazed trail.

The GA Pinhoti is really a network of trails connected by various forms of roads - from paved road walks to jeep forest roads - a totally different trail in every respect.

From time to time there's talk of connecting the AT to the AL Pinhoti but that'll never happen because the GA Pinhoti is between the 2.

Resupply isn't terribly difficult but the state park around 60ish miles from the southern terminus closed (so I heard) and that was a very handy spot to send a mail drop.

I've almost finished my section hike of the entire Pinhoti Trail. I did it all this year. All I have is a 45 mile overnight weekend to do and I am officially done with another trail.

This video along with Pinhoti Trail Alliance guide is very likely the closest thing to an up-to-date guide as you are going to get.

I've found the PTA guide to be very helpful. I have used it almost exclusively so far with only on very rare occasions having to double check with my GSP to make sure I was going in the right direction.
