Default Anyone else get excited because they thought this was a class on thruhiking?

Speaking of which, if anyone wants to form a group and spend a couple nights out on a trail somewhere in prep PM me! Totally flexible and would love to work with people's schedule/ location.

I totally thought it was a class too! LOL.

I like your prep hike idea, unfortunately I live in MN, but good luck on finding partners!

REI often offers workshops on planning a thru-hike or long distance backpacking trip.

Also, there are a couple of courses on thru-hiking you can pay to take like:

    http://www.warrendoyle.com/ATI.html

This is not an endorsement of any of the above...just offering them up for info.
you left to walk the appalachian trail
you can feel your heart as smooth as a snail
    the mountains your darlings
but better to love than have something to scale

CAn't wait to get started with my hike. Winding down with work as I retire in 45 days. Have all my supply boxes ready for my wife to mail to me. A few last minute items to take care of. I start Feb 29th. See you on the trail.

You are getting a nice, early start! Well the nicest thing I can say is that I hope it goes so well for you that you don't see me on the trail.

I'm down for a prep trip... Approach Trail to Neels gap... Or neels gap to Addis gap. Preferably the latter.

REI classes are quite expensive. The last I checked it was about $250 for a one night trip

i dont need someone to teach me how to walk. The trail gon take care of you one way or another. That being said when i first saw it i did indeed think it was a course of some sort.

Love people and use things; never the reverse.

Mt. Katahdin would be a lot quicker to climb if its darn access trail didn't start all the way down in Georgia.
