Question Neels Gap to Dicks Creek Gap (GA). Advice?

Considering doing a 3 day hike from Neels Gap to Dicks Creek Gap (36 miles) on Halloween weekend and using Top of Georgia Hostel to shuttle me. Pretty straight forward. Any tips or anything I should know about?

    Plan:
Day 1, 10 miles to Low Gap Shelter
Day 2, 15 miles to Tray Mountain Shelter
Day 3, 11 miles to Dicks Creek Gap and my car.

The last half of day 2 will be an eye opener. Going down into Unicoi Gap and up over Rocky Mtn. onto Tray is something to remember. Lack of daylight may affect mileage.

Good plan. Start day two early, the second half of the day is tough. But the first half is pretty easy.

While there is adequate water between Unicoi and Dick's Creek, be aware that some of the spots require a quarter-mile or more jaunt to get to the water. Don't let that deter you - get it when you can.

That's a great little section. I'm not sure of your fitness but I've done that route a couple times and those seem like very doable miles.

I'm in pretty good shape. 34 years old and work out 4-5 days a week. I could probably do more but am just wanting to enjoy myself and not push too hard. The middle day will be tough though with the daylight hours getting shorter.

I dont remember anything special about this area...except a bear came down a tree about 8 ft from me, dropped to ground, and took off.

I'm a novice hiker from Florida. And I just did that section a couple weeks ago as my second ever section hike. I went from Neels to Low gap,, then Blue mtn shelter. Then I tackled unicoi, rocky and tray mtn, stayed at tray mtn shelter. Then went the 11 miles to Dick's and it kicked my butt. I felt like the downhill was never going to end.
