I know that trouble has been reported in the past, but does anyone have a feel for how safe it is to park for 4 nights at Carver's Gap?
If it is unsafe, is there an alternative place to park that comes with a cheap shuttle?

I park at Mountain Harbour and have them shuttle me. Although I've seen cars left at Carver's Gap overnight, I prefer to not chance it.

Remote for detachment, narrow for chosen company, winding for leisure, lonely for contemplation, the Trail beckons not merely north and south, but upward to the body, mind, and soul of man.
There has been issues here and there in recent years. But nothing like the vandalism history to 19E and Buck Mountain. Just be smart and don't store anything of worth in your vehicle.
If concerned, you may want to continue on to or schedule with Mountain Harbour or Kincora.

I would try and park at Mountain Harbor BB. Has always worked well for me

I parked at the FS picnic area on top of Roan for 2 nights this summer. I think it cost $3/night. Had no problems.
More walking, less talking.
Parked there a few times on overnight trips, had no issues. On a couple of occasions, a local deputy has come in a checked vehicles and such. He was pretty cool feller on top of that!
Thanks for all the info.
