Can anyone direct me to a good book or website that has in detail maps for the NC and GA sections of the A.T?

If you mean to purchase, try ATC website. There isnt much for free.
You can print usgs topo maps, they have the AT track on them. I think trailsouce.vom has some too.

Backcountry Navigator an Android app is free for 30 days. You can download zoonable topo maps to hearts content. Well work the $11.99 for the pro version.
