1) Great Barrington A.T. Community Celebration Hikes and Picnic
When: Saturday, July 25 at 5 PM
Where: Benedict Pond, Beartown State Forest, Monterey, MA
(nobo mile ~1527.4, sobo mile ~657.9)
At the southern end of Benedict Pond, follow the blue blaze trail west for .25 m. until you reach the parking and picnic area. Follow the Signs for the Community Picnic!

The Dirt: Thru-Hikers and Section Hikers are welcome to join the Great Barrington A.T. Community for this fun event. Food. Swimming. Campfire. FREE Tenting at Benedict Pond. Also FREE Tenting and use of facility at Berkshire South Community Center in Great Barrington for hikers wanting to go back to town (must find ride). Must mention promo to get this generous offer.

2) Special Offer for Thru and Section Hikers from Berkshire South Regional Community Center
From July 25 to August 8, Berkshire South Regional Community Center is offering an $8 day pass (normal value $15) for AT hikers who check in at the front desk and notify the staff you wish to take part in this promo to receive the discount.
BSRCC facilities and services for hikers include:
• Showers
• Camping (tent platforms)
• Pool
• WiFi
• A / C
• Massages (additional fee)
• Free Community Suppers (Mondays)
Appropriate etiquette at the facilities must be observed:
-Check in at front desk
-Non-therapeutic drugs are prohibited on Berkshire South grounds.
-Alcohol is prohibited except at specifically designated events. Anyone under the influence either visibly or noticeably of drugs including alcohol is not allowed within the facility.
-Eating or drinking is permitted only in designated areas. Please be respectful and pick up after yourself.
-Footwear and a shirt are required except in pool area.
-Towel service is available at the front desk for a fee.
-Berkshire South is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please DO NOT leave your
valuables unattended OR UNLOCKED. Locks are available at the front desk for a fee.

Berkshire South is(located at 15 Crissey Road, off Route 7 in GB. BRTA Bus Route #21 will stop at the front door of Berkshire South IF you let the drive know. Route #21 runs from Gt. Barrington to Lee.

3) North Adams Appalachian Trail Community Celebration and Cookout
WHEN: Saturday, August 1st
WHERE: Greylock Elementary School (on the trail)

The City of North Adams will celebrate the Appalachian Trail, with hikers, trail volunteers, neighbors and anyone else that has a positive view of the AT.


It is a day to embrace the relationship between the City and the Appalachian Trail as we show support for everyone that makes the AT what it is.

The day will included a smaller trail project done by volunteers in the morning and then lunch and live music in the afternoon. Guest can view the newly painted footbridge panels done by students from Greylock Elementary School, the new handrail that was completed by McCann Technical School students and the recently relocated AT Kiosk now located on the front lawn of Greylock Elementary School.

• Install new AT parking sign in front of Greylock Club.
• Touch up existing kiosk with paint.

12:00 - 3:00
• Grill burgers / dogs
• Live music by local musician
• Conversations with thru-hikers.
• Frisbee / playground for kids
