    Starchild- The cabin at Upper Goose Pons does not charge a fee to stay overnight. Donations are excepted to help defray the cost of providing pancakes and coffee for breakfast.

    A couple decades ago, yeah this was true. Nowadays gmc caretakers are paid a weekly salary. (I'm also a former gmc caretaker)

    Just talked to the Griffith Lake / Peru Peak caretaker yesterday who said the policy of the caretakers taking home the overnight fees ended long ago. All caretakers are paid a fixed rate, so the policy of only paying for one shelter if you keep your receipt has no ill affect on the caretakers.
