On June 20, 2015, Backpacker magazine is hosting the longest trail party (by distance) the world has ever seen. We're attempting to simultaneously thru-hike the entire AT in a single day!
We've divided the trail into 331 segments ranging from less than 1 mile to more than 25 (the average is 6) and now we're looking for people like you to come out, hike a section, and participate in this tour de force of love for the America's most important hiking trail.
We're looking for thru-hikers past, present, and future, as well as dayhikers, weekend warriors and anyone with any kind of interest in the AT (which is probably 100% of the readers of this website). We have the blessing of the ATC, the AMC, and lots of local hiking clubs.
So far, about 450 people have registered, but we still have a ways to go to fill in the gaps, especially in Virginia and Maine. That's why we need you!!
Sign up, come on out, and help us show the world how much the trail means to us!
