SOBO July 15, OK time to start?

I plan to start solo SOBO on July 15th. Any reason to pick a later date? Are there any particular obstacles around this time. Being I just decided to do a thru hike instead of a section with friends on the PCT, I feel I am cramming info into my brain. Any suggestions to get more informed without reading every post? My pac and I are in pretty good shape but want to get more informed especially cold and warmer gear is needed. Thanks

Make sure you can get a camp site or lean to at Baxter State Park. They are filling up fast.
I'll be hiking Katahdin on the 16th of July. See you on the trail.
