Default How's the water in GA/NC this summer?

Are all the springs in the AWOL book flowing right now? I'm heading north out of Neel Gap in a couple weeks and was wondering about any dry patches I'd need to prepare for. Gonna *try* to get all the way to Hot Springs or maybe Erwin if I can swing the time, but my biggest concern is water availability--It seems that no matter what I do or how much I drink, anything more than eight miles in the heat causes my legs to cramp really bad about 20 minutes after I'm done for the day. So I've been carrying extra powdered Gatorade and drinking way more than I thought I would, thus the concern about water sources.

    Thanks!

No specifics...seems like an average rainfall year so far. At least down here i the valleys of WNC. Several weeks ago I hiked from Deep Gap, NC to Winding Stair Gap. No water issues at all. All sources running well.

I can't imagine finding water to be an issue right now. We've had a very wet spring with pretty steady rainfall.

Agree with others here...water should be fine. I've been north and south of Neels very recently and everything's running. Have you ever tried an electrolyte tablet? Nuun, CamelBak Elixir, etc? It might help.

Eat foods with high potassium content...potato chips, dried bananas, etc. I'm sure others can give more examples.

Get some "lite salt" it is a mix of sodium and potassium cloride, cheap electrolyte suppliment. Add to food.

Just hiked between Deep Gap, NC and Albert Mtn. There was water everywhere. All the creeks and springs are flowing. We crossed dozens of additional wet spots on the trail where you could pump water using a filter if necessary as well. You'll have a harder time keeping your feet dry than you will finding water.
