I'm a geologist and love being outside. Ive been planning on doing this for a while and I'm excited this is finally happening. I was initially going to hike early March but I'm hoping to avoid some of the crowd by starting in April. Good luck everybody!

We are starting them same day and for some of the mutual reasons regarding the crowd! But something tells me we won't be the only two starting that day?

I grew up fairly close to the AT in PA, I've hiked much of the middle section (VA, MD, WV, PA, NJ, and NY) during college. I finally have time to go and hike the whole trail after grad school before starting "a real job." But, I have a deadline. I'm hoping to be done by July 1, at the latest, July 10.

Check Torreya park near Tallahassee. its known as a miniature Appalachian ecosystem complete with bluffs and steep hills. I am going there for 5 days over Christmas to test gear and get some hiking done in similar conditions.

I've been planning this since 2012. Was supposed to do it back in 2013 but life and procrastination got in the way. Planning on bringing my 2 pups along. I'll bring my lab to Harpers Ferry and switch her out for my German Shepherd for the last half.
