Default SoBo Georgia Section Starting Point?

I'm planning the Georgia Section southbound and I need advice regarding where to actually park and start from the North end. I'll come out at Amicalola, but I want to make sure to get all of Georgia in the hike.

You will have to either backtrack from Dicks Creek or start farther north. I would park at Amicalola and hire a shuttle

Start at Deep Gap, NC. You can hike up the Kimsey Creek trail from Standing Indian Campground, or some folks will drive you there on the FS road (though check to make sure it's open).

This is longer, of course, but it's the best way to get all of GA.

    Default That's the one!

Yessir. I knew there was a gap to start at in NC, but I couldn't remember which one was best. I did the Standing Indian Campground to Standing Indian Campground Loop one time. It's nice there. I guess that's where to start then? Is that campground at/part of Deep Gap? I'm down here in South Georgia (Brunswick) and I don't know that area very well at all.

P.S. What is the total trail mileage from Deep gap to Amicalola Falls Park?

The campground is down in the valley, the gap is up high, about 4 miles up the Kimsey Creek trail. I don't recall the mileage offhand and my databook is at home. Someone will chime in.
