    I think they mean that there are only two giant tropical forests left on Earth. Nearly half of Canada is covered by trees, and Russia has the largest forest in the world. We shouldn't despair just yet. But as for the animals in these places, well, our sympathy and our recognition of their doomed plight won't be enough. We'll follow in their poor little footsteps someday and the planet will be better off for it, recycling itself as necessary, as it has thus far.
