Default Parking right after Blood Mountain (Northbound)

    Hello, all!

Can someone tell me if and where there is parking just after the Blood Mountain shelter? Coordinates are fine. We are hiking from Woody's Gap to Blood Mountain Shelter and would like to park car #1 at Woody's Gap, and car #2 shortly after the Blood Mountain Shelter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Coordinates or address. I am aware of the bear canister requirement.

    Thanks!

You can park the second car at the Byron Herbert Reece parking lot on US19/129. It is accessed by a short side trail that intersects with the AT approximately 1.5 miles from the summit of Blood Mountain. It is short distance to Walasi-yi and the Mountain Crossings store at Neel Gap.

You won't be able to get a car anywhere near Blood Mtn Shelter. Closest spot northbound is Neels Gap, at the Reece lot.

I do believe that hikers' parking cars at the outfitters at Neels Gap is prohibited. Customers only. UNLESS this has changed in the last few months. As has been mentioned, park at the Byron Reece lot, but be aware spots are limited there.

    This link might help: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Mo...b2a2699d3bb65f

You can see the lot at the junction of the Byron Herbert Reece Memorial Train & Gainesville Hwy. The coords may roughly be: 34.7381468,-83.9189264

Hope this helps. It's pretty easy to find. In fact, the Waze app may take you straight there. Have fun!

Sorry...to be specific...those coords (34.7381468,-83.9189264) are for Mountain Crossings itself. But seriously...you won't have a problem finding the lot.

Highway directions are about 0.5 mile north of Neels Gap on US 129
    34.742603, -83.920953

Get there early on the weekends. It fills up fast. And they do ticket this lot.

Parked there a couple weeks ago and left it overnight. Worked out perfect
