That's terrible, what a shame. My condolences to his friends and family.

Thankfully that doesn't happen very often, but it is one of the risks of camping.

    That's aweful.

One night one of the trees my uncle tied his hammock to fell in a storm. I checked it once it started to go but was reassured as it was falling away from us. Nowadays, I always check the trees around my campsite before turning in.

If you think about it, you do hear a number of trees falling some nights.

    My condolences.

I was up on the knoll an hour ago and the wind was still 30+ and the shallow soil was beyond saturated. Widow maker conditions.
