    Default 4oz First Aid/Repair Kit

I just wanted to share with you my 4oz FAK/Repair Kit for anyone looking into dropping weight in theirs or just to compare.

I've been backpacking/hiking for about 6 years now with a ton of day hikes, a lot of overnights, some multiday trips, and a thru-hike of the Vermont Long Trail. I'm not expert, but this is where my kit stands today.

    1 quart hefty freezer bag
    1 roll ducttape
1 bobbin 15# braided fishing line
    1 medium size sewing needle
    1 large safety pin
    1 brand new mini-bic
    1 leaf of moleskin
    4x 1x3" bandaids
    1 3x3" bandage
    1 3" roll of gauze
    1 3" self adhesive wrap
    1 knuckle bandage
    1 Antiseptic Wipe
    1 package wound closure strips
    A few claritin
    A few immodium
    3x AAA batteries

That's everything I consider to be in that kit. I also have hand sanitizer, Ibuprofen, Antibiotic Ointment, Sunblock, DEET, Vaseline, two trekking poles, a bandana, etc. But I put those in my hygiene kit, as I consider them day to day items.

And for people wondering, I have never used most of the stuff in there. In fact, here's the list again. Stuff I've NEVER used is in bold.

    1 quart hefty freezer bag
    1 roll ducttape
1 bobbin 15# braided fishing line
    1 medium size sewing needle
    1 large safety pin
    1 brand new mini-bic
    1 leaf of moleskin
    4x 1x3" bandaids
    1 3x3" bandage
    1 3" roll of gauze
    1 3" self adhesive wrap
    1 knuckle bandage
    1 Antiseptic Wipe
    1 package wound closure strips

    A few claritin
    A few immodium
    3x AAA batteries

As you can see, I have never used alot of my first aid kit, however I don't drop them all together because I, me personally, can see the value of these items. So rather than throwing it out to save weight, I only carry one.

Regards and safe hiking this year!

It is amazing as to the multiple applications that "duct tape" will serve. There are other types/brands, but this is a definite need to have item.

, you already have 4 oz.

    I suggest:

    3% hydrogen peroxide
    Xeroform finger-size burn bandages
    O'Tom tick removal

I have a similarly minimal kit that includes:
Quality tweezers for tick and splinter removal
    Leukotape for blisters
    Benadryl for allergic sting reaction
Aspirin (good pain reliever and for possible heart attack)
Immodium and Pericolace for opposite ends of the GI discomfort spectrum
Mini tube of super glue for both gear repair (glasses, plastics, etc) and closing small surface wounds (mostly cracked fingers)

Leukotape, 1" by about 12" (rerolled on a plastic straw)
    Bandaids, 8
    Tweezers
    Safety pin
    Sewing needle and thread
    Tylenol
    Immodium
    Aspirin, 2

Also carried but not in the FAK, hand sanitizer and a small lighter

And the most important thing, knowledge of First Aid.
