    Default Happy winter solstice !!

Better get a crackin' while there's still daylight.

And a very happy birthday to you Mrs. B. love when this day comes...(and but for a recent thread here explaining the length of daylight around this time of year)...in my mind, the days are now getting longer.

Today (December 22) is the longest day of the year - 24 hours 00 minutes 19.9 seconds. The shortest day is September 19, at 23 hours 59 minutes 38.7 seconds. (Wikipedia has more.) 24 hours is just the average over the whole year, and it's a little bit off. They add leap seconds every once in a while to adjust it.

The shift in the solar day length is why the earliest Northern Hemisphere sunset comes a couple of weeks before the solstice and the latest sunrise a couple of weeks after.
I always know where I am. I'm right here.
