Default Book and Kindle Editions - To The Woods - A Scot thru hikes the AT

The reviews on my book on Amazon have been interesting. http://tinyurl.com/lbs4b2t

One of the chapters is written in part in my Scots dialect, that is the language in which I think and speak when with my own folks - some readers have struggled with this. It's no more difficult than us Scots trying to follow a Tarantino move or a James Ellroy novel. But I think in hindsight I could have tried something different.

As a visitor and one very interested in politics, I comment on what I see. Some readers have taken this as full-blooded socialism whilst others have seen it as a distraction. I would have been equally frank and forthright if hiking through Scotland. I don't think the social and political commentary is a distraction, but there are other books which are entirely about the AT so do please start there if that's what you want.

Irrespective, if you buy a copy, I look forward to your feedback and comments.

The reviews were interesting and I think most likely on the money as they seem genuine. As a descendant of your/our beautiful country I am always intrigued to understand the social economic differences, especially if they are from a person who hikes, likes Tarantino movies, and has a different point of view as mine. At 118 pages and self published I wonder if this is just a way to get ones political point of view across (not that that's a bad idea, kudos for capitalism) but will give it a shot...added to wish list. That's for the heads up John, good luck with the book.

P.S. One of my all time favorite authors is a Brit, and as hard as I find his reading it is likely more about my deficiencies as a reader. I stuck with it, and he just made since. Love all his books ~Colin Fletcher that is.

Chuck. Many thanks. I have thought about it on occasion, but the weather is dreadful and the food isn't much better! John

Many thanks to you - I do hope you enjoy it. And thanks for the introduction to Colin Fletcher - I wasn't aware of his writings so will now add him to my wish list. John

Fletcher was also one of my favorites. And he said the same (weather and food) about hiking in Britain.

I think you'll like him, many of the little gems can be found in his foot notes at the bottoms of the pages...funny stuff. I've often thought a book just of his foot notes would make a very good book for the Loo.
