    Default Another AT Rail Stop?

I was mushing around on the internet and learned an interesting but currently useless fact. It seems that at one time a second AT railway stop was contemplated and is still "on the books." Unfortunately (a) it was never built, (b) it's on a secondary line running from the Hudson River into Connecticut which hasn't seen passenger service since 1927, and (c) it's very close to the existing AT stop in Pawling NY. It would be situated just south of Route 55, which, if you're heading northbound, is after Morgan Stewart Shelter and before Nuclear Lake.

At least it's nice to know they're keeping us in mind!

I just hiked past that rail line on Monday. The trail guide indicates that commuter rail is planned for the future, and the tracks looked like they were in great shape. As an aside, there is a huge beaver dam near the tracks, and you could clearly pick out the beaver's home in the newly formed lake.
