Default nice day for a walk in the Whites

Rather then sit around today, decided to strap on my snowshoes and go for a walk. There sure is a lot of snow in these here hills! The snow is deep, but pretty solid for the most part. The Valley Way was packed solid, microspikes would be enough for popular trails like the Valley Way. Lesser used trails are pretty solid so long as their in the shade. Sunny sections were soft in the afternoon sun. Snow looked to be 3 to 5 feet deep and I only got up to about 3600 feet.

Not 100% sure, but I think I'm going to be climbing Whiteface tomorrow. Today would have been the better day, or Sunday even better.

What was clear blue skies this afternoon has already turned in to cold rain. Might turn into snow before it moves out early tomorrow morning. The weather sure can change in a hurry around here this time of year!

Yeah, here on the western slopes of the Whites in Sugar Hill, NH we have close to 2 feet on the ground at 2000 feet. Peaks have a lot more and ski areas are staying open through April. Great spring snow for all kinds of fun!
