I am looking to start around the 21st of March and would like to finish sometime between the middle to end of August. I hiked the 100 mile wilderness in Maine a few years back and want to do the whole thing now that I have the time and money.

Miles/Day: Not one to dwell on such trivalities.
Off days: Whenever I require a pizza infusion.
ETA to K: Doesn't really matter, I'm unemployed after Feb. 28th.
Reason: You'd think after the number of times we get asked this I'd come up with something profound, or at least witty, but nope. "Because I've always wanted to" seems the best so far.

Hey all,
I plan to thru hike the AT north bound from Springer this coming spring. I will be starting on March 21st 2006 on the Approach trail from the park.
I am planning on averaging 12-15 miles or so a day, and plan on taking roughly 6 months of the trip. I may get a few higher milage days in but speed is not my goal! I am out there to enjoy the hiking and the overall experience.
I have been thinking of doing the AT for years and finally the time is right! I am single, unattached and have the resources. I will be going to the ALDHA gathering at Dartmouth this coming Columbus weekend..hope to see you all there!
David
I just have to add this little tid bid I just thought of... A 6 month thru hike is a fabulous reason to quit a job I don't really like that much!!
