Thanks, folks. Introducing some kids to the experience and thought we'd roll a little cookout into education on the southern terminus and the trail.
I've never camped or even visted the shelter on Springer, just the tent area. Is there a grill there like at some other shelters?
Also while we're at it, is anyone aware of any fire restrictions...
I've never attempted a thru-hike. If you've tried and I haven't even done that, what does that make me? Who's yardstick do you have?
And you're only talking about your first attempt? Seems to me...
What are you doing at Ft. Meade? I was there (NSA) for temporary duty in '90.
Sounds like it was an awesome hike.
I'll second that. It about puts me in bed for a week or so in April/May.
Workshops to teach drownproofing to hikers like they taught us at Parris Island, LW? We were carrying packs too, right? And helmets and rifles and flak jackets... Pack it tight and float it across.
Was challenged by a Golden Lab mix on the Approach Trail last January. Owners sitting around a fire-ring watching and yelling for the dog. Pointed my poles at it, kept walking, and stared the dog...
Much appreciated, everyone. Very helpful.
Ah. Thanks. Thought he was giving general info. Much appreciated, you two.

They were doing everything they...
Thanks for your service, brothers and sisters.

How about something like a "three finger salute"? Hold up three fingers to make a "W" when greeting on the trail.
I second that. A turd is a turd whether it's on the trail or not.
It's on at 10:30PM ET on Wednesday the 14th. You can decide tasteless or tasteful for yourself.

I always like going up that gravel road to the Falls. I always hate coming back down.
Thanks for that imagery. My co-workers are still wondering what I'm laughing at.
You're on a hiking forum asking if you should go hike.
Talk about a baited field...
Hike, good sir.
