I'm going S/B from Clingman and meeting a friend at Fontana to resupply before heading to the NOC. So I'd only need to pack 3 days food at any given time.

Estimate distances to sightseeing opportunities, pretty much. I'm not planning on getting lost :)

I see it as an opportunity to hop into a party for a little bit after a long week on the trail. Hearing it for the final mile or so will be great motivation to bring it on home.

For $2k I could afford a whole new gear setup AND the plane ticket to get wherever I wanted. And have some left over to donate to the local trail club. So give it to me - I'll put it to better use.

I've heard the Trails Illustrated topo for the park blows. Are there any decent links to printable maps for Clingman to the NOC out there? I'll be hiking south starting 8/31 to 9/5. Thanks!

Bingo! Grassy Gap it is! So the trail south of Sassafras goes right to the NOC from what I can see - that will be a convenient rendezvue for our driver.
