Hiker mom. This is a public forum. The only magic, which really isn't magic, that I detest is when so-called angels leave stuff. If you are going to do it, stay with it. TA's are not exempt from LNT...
I personally have never met an overweight hiker obsessed with pack weight while ignoring body weight.
Cause they are real hikers.
Journaling or blogging. Two things that never occurred to me to do while hiking. A non necessity.
yet you asked, Is it a thru-hike?
Yet you start a thread about "labels".
You are good to go. Enjoy. If you do forget something, it'll make a good story later on.
A 15 y/o walking 2,000 miles, no big deal. Sleeping with parent(s) in a camper for 6 mos; there should be an award for that.
Stop thinking. You are the envy of dads everywhere.
I wouldn't go into debt to pay for a vacation.
Weekend warrior here. I find I'm not real hungry when I first wake up. so I pack up and leave. Stop a few hours later and eat breakfast.
I have a ray-way 9.5oz frameless pack. The key is weight. If you decide to go with an ultralight pack, you must carry ultralight gear. Frameless packs are not designed to carry heavy loads. 25-30 lbs...

Only thing good about the advise from other hikers is its free. Listen to your body. Stop walking. Go home, see your doctor, heal. Keep walking and you'll be having surgery. Don't listen to morons.
You could Park at Amacalola Falls State Park, and include the Approach Trail. Total 38 miles, very doable in 6 days. You could spend the first night at the lodge, eat a hardy buffet breakfast, then...
I would not include bumming rides as yoging.
Agree, lose both, however, the ultimate goal for losing belly fat is for your health. So you can live long and prosper.
It gets discussed on this board, but I don't hear a lot of gear talk on the trail. I have a lot of home made light weight gear. I never talk about it unless someone asks. There is no "reasonable"...
The best places to be picked up are Neel Gap or Amacalola Falls State Park, because either one of you has a nice indoor place to stay while waiting. AFSP is also a good drop off place because its off...
littering with cigarette butts, now that'd pathetic.
Ditto...Whitley Gap is a good destination, but not if you are continuing on the trail.
Yes. Vogel. My bad.
