If you have the tripod (screw) adaptor, you can get a Gorilla pod. Works awesome for lots of dynamic shots. But, I used a stick-pic as well for certain shots. Happy hiking!
Now, with that all being said, are there any 2012'ers.... or anyone for that matter... who would like to make some $$$$$$ driving me from Waynesboro up to Harpers around 1/11/13? Please PM me ASAP!!!
Fourth, and most importantly, I will be heading back to the SNP in roughly 5 days to complete that section on foot with a couple SOBO friends of mine. Not so anyone on here has to recognize me......
Third, there is some additional honor (though not "officially" recognized) of hiking the whole Trail in under one calendar year. Most people would define "thru-hiking" as hiking the full length of...
Secondly, I did not yet register for the 2000 miler patch. Where did I say that I had? You will not see my name on the 2012 list as a result. Bummer... but I, unlike many folks out there, intend...
First, I'm not the one that started with the bashing (Bamboo Bob on page 1 with the "pussies" comment, as well as a few other subsequently).... and, at least I admitted to my "keyboard commando"...
....And one more thing.... I hiked 100% of the Trail with Gortex footware. And I LIKED IT!!! :-p
Take everything these ol' time Whiteblazer's say with a big ol' grain of salt. Anyone with over...
The old addage, "If you don't have anything nice to say, perhaps you should keep it to yourself" may apply here.
The thread was MY request for information related to the Aquablaze for the...
I'm not trying to justify anything. Just pointing out some of the counterpoints I have come across as I've hiked over 2000 miles this year (not incl SNP) and as I take a brief look at the internet. ...
Dehydrated baby wipes. Definitely.
IMO, if you are utilizing an entire ULA Catalyst, you are certainly carrying too much weight (or have never heard of compression stuff sacks). Most of the folks I saw carrying a Catalyst could have...
I carried a ULA Circuit the entire length of the Trail this year. No complaints. Weights up to 35lbs were very comfortable. Anything over 40lbs, I would consider to be uncomfortable. Carried my...
I finished up in Port Clinton, PA on November 17th :) Thru-Leapers FTW!!!!!

Apparently my thru-hiker friends were not the only ones to think that the AT through the SNP was "boring" with "nothing...
I guess, since I originally posted this thread, I should take some responsibility here.....
After having completed my "thru-hike" of the AT this year, I am shocked to see such marginalizing...
I know a couple folks have already done the Shenandoah River Aqua Blaze this year. Any reports/ reviews?
Also, are there any Trail Angels that have access to some canoes (Waynesboro to...
So, it looks like everyone from the othopedic md, physical therpist, current and former athletes, long distance runners, and thru-hikers are telling me to lay off for at least a week. I have another...
Base weight is roughly 24lbs. Typically carry 2L or less water in my pack. Food is roughly 1.5lbs per full trail day. I use poles, boots, and superfeet.
I saw a sports md today and will be seeing a PT tomorrow morning. The md is where I got the brace from.
30yrs/ 200lbs (6'-3" tall). Medications include Vit I (for 2 days before I got off) and a regular regiment of Multi Vit, fish oil, probiotics, immune globulin, CoQ10 (cellular energy), Traumeric by...
Has anyone delt with patellar tendonitis before? Both myself and a buddy of mine are out with similar issues with our knees.
I've been told to take a week off... but I don't want to take that...
Thanks Hat. I'm sure I'll be fine... just a little early for my proposed start date. As I'll already have climbed to the top of the Approach Trail on the 28th, I'll see you down the trail.
...
What's up LYC (Leap Year Crew)?!?
I'm so stoked to start my slow accent of the Approach Trail on the 28th. My ride needs to drop me off on Sunday night, unless anyone is coming from/ through...
My start date is now officially the 29th. I will be heading up the Approach Trail on the 28th.
If you want to get together this week for a lunch or something, let me know. I'm heading north on...
