I'm rocking The North Face Hedgehog GTX XCR Talls. I have the low version as a day-to-day shoe and love em. First day I had the lows I did probably 12-15 miles with not a single blister.

Holy crap. How are Robbie and Kinsey? I helped them out their first day when their water filters froze and I forgot to get all their information.
Not anymore. We hunted the rare Galapagos Furry Turtle to extinction so we could have scarves. :(
Probably don't really need the liner starting in two weeks. I've been up on Springer the last two weekends and the first one it was ~15* and I was ok with just my 20deg bag and my fleece jacket on. ...
Awesome weather this weekend, and it looks like it'll hopefully carry into next week. Did from Springer to Hawk Mountain shelter with a buddy yesterday, then hiked back out today. Lot of folks on...
Young male hiker here. Post holing sucks!
Once did it for 7 miles up Mt. Harvard with a buddy. Never again.
Keep the device as close to your body heat as possible when it's cold out, and sleep with it in your bag.
I carry a small 3200mAH external battery with a USB port on it for charging devices, as...
I started hiking up Springer around 4PM on Saturday, and it was already in the 20's. By the time I got to the top shelter, it was probably 22-25*. I don't think it actually got much above 40* all...
Currently working on To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth by Jeff Cooper. Also have Practical Shooting by Brian Enos, all of HP Lovecrafts' stuff, and the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

I went with the Timberland Radler.
Probably not the lightest option, but they are lighter than my Chacos!
Do yourself a favor and keep it until Grayson Highlands. That's usually considered the "safe point" for sending back cold weather gear. It's not just a matter of comfort, as hypothermia can end...
I was up on Springer last night.
I wore (on the hike up)
-Smartwool Midweight Socks w/North Face Hedgehog Boots
-Underarmor HEAT gear compression shorts
-REI Convertible Pants
-Smartwool...
Cooooold night on Springer last night. It was about 16* when we woke up this morning, and probably not much warmer when we turned in. Probably about an inch or so of snow on the ground. Restless...
Just wanted to update that I am starting from Springer, NOBO on March 15.
Noticed I was listed as April in the table.
I'll be on the trail tomorrow for some training. Probably be camping up on top of Springer tomorrow night and doing a loop on the AT and BM trail so hopefully I'll see a few of you guys!
Just gave my (official) two weeks notice yesterday.
It made my hike actually seem real for the first time.
It feels awesome.
Yeah. I've gotten a lot of questions about my pack while I am on the treadmills or in the locker room. There is also a firefighter at my gym that gets on the treadmill with his gear on!
Gym scale. I get some strange looks/questions.
Always kind of wonder how they figured this out...
Says it isn't compatible with my Motorola MB860 (Atrix 4G) :(
If you are at trail days, I'll be there as well. I went to College in Dahlonega, and the guy that organizes trail days is a friend of mine. Send me a PM and I'll get you my info if you want to link...
Assuming it's Greyhound, you can always get off in Gainesville. It's (technically) about the same distance to the trailhead, and skips MARTA.
That said, having spent twenty-some-odd years of my...
The correct answer is more. Always more.
