Thats ok.
Has anyone used the free topo maps at http://www.hikertrash.com/
They look like they might be pretty good. Or at least better then the ones in the guide book.
Does anyone have any thoughts on Yogi's handbook?
I have all the guide books. Is there any reason I would need this also?
I thru-hiked the C.T. in 2003 with a friend of mine. I have some info on my website. http://www.dragonflyvalley.com
Click the "hiking trips" link on the bottom.

Any ideas for a good place to star gaze along the A.T. in Ma. or Vt.?
Does anyone have any opinions on the Merrell Sawtooth boots(women's).
I've been using the Chameleon Ventilator highs and really like them, they just wear out too fast.
After almost being cripple...
There are lots of tent site along the approach trail but none of them have water. The first water source you come to is about 1/2 mile before Black Gap Shelter.
The scale starts out at 3 lbs. I always remind people to subtract the 3 lbs. It usually makes them feel better that their pack only weighs 58 lbs not 61. 3 lbs can be psychologically damaging. I hope...
Excellent!
WhiteBlaze is becoming THE best site on the net for A.T. info.
And now a patch!
Someone is going to be veeerrryyyy jealous.
Who started WhiteBlaze?
Has anyone ever stayed at the place above the laundrymat? I looked around when I was doing my laundry and it looked like a pretty nice place, very clean.
Does your can have the curved bottom? The Welches Grape juice cans and the V-8 cans do.
I would move the holes out a bit like your thinking. I think thats where the instructions say to put them.
I used a box cutter to make a rough cut then I just used scissors to make the final cut. The cans are very thin and cut pretty easy. I put a piece of black tape around the bottom to mark the right...
I parked at Dicks Creek Gap this weekend. No problems. I was really worried before I left after reading the other thread on problems at Unicoi Gap. I stopped in to the Blue Berry Patch and talked to...
Thanks SGT Rock
Your a stove making guineas!
Thanks Chris
I couldn't find Welch's 5.5oz juice cans to make the Ion stove. I did find 5.5 oz V-8 cans. Do these work the same?
Hopefully the snow will be gone by the time I get there. Planning late June and July. Most camping will be at around 9,000.
I've been lurking in the CT forum, maybe its time to post a couple...
In the Data book that I have for the CT the elevation ranges from a low of 5,520 to a high of 13,240. Looks like most of the time will be spend between 9,000 - 11,000 feet. Maybe I should stick with...
I've never been so excited about going to buy grape juice before :)
Do you know if altitude has any effects on stove performance?
I'm going to be hiking the CT and hope to use this type of stove...
Excellent!
I knew I was probably trying to reinvent the wheel.
Does the Turbo V8 and the Ion perform the same?
SGT Rock, you probably wrote about this in your thesis on stoves :) Could you give...
Has anyone ever tried to make the stand part of the stove instead of a separate piece?
What if I took coat hanger wire and made little stilts that attach to the side of the stove. The pot would sit...
Well, I'm attempting to make my first cat stove.
I was looking on the internet and came across this stove that uses a cat food can as the jacket and the bottom of a soda can as the burner. The...
Well they both have their ups and downs:)
If I recall right, Pa. had more level terrain but the rocks were bad. Georgia is either up or down, nothing level.
I had a hard time deciding on a camera for my thru-hike. I wanted to bring a digital to save on the expense of film and processing. I went up to Amicalola the week before my hike just to check it out...
I have a Marmot Arroyo. I've been really happy with it. Marmot customer service is excellent. I just sent it back to have it inspected and to have the loft checked. They added 4 oz of down and...
