Thank you Smooth & Wasabi, I'd like to give 3 a try. 1 sounds interesting too.
Thanks for the answers. I do find that my HH Expedition is very comfortable. For WBBB 1.1 DL, even if I put pad in it, if I sleep in an angle, the pad was to be found very hard to be adjusted...
I second 1.7 single, even though I own an 1.1 dl.
Thanks for the all the good advice. I think I need to clarify. I wonder if the single layer would server better than a double layer, not to compare WBBB with HH.
Hello everyone, I have never tried out any of the GoLite tents, but they seem ideal to me. I have been looking for them for a long time. Now the price is just about right....
I have a WBBB 1.1 DL and Hennessy Expedition (single layer), I was wondering which you would recommend to bring onto the AT.
Thanks!
Should I bring a four season tarp with doors or a large tarp without doors?
Lol! hikerboy, why finishing faster the AT is a con?
Hi stranger,
I agree. The key thing is the discipline and getting out there and do it.
I have a hammock. What other gears would recommend to add on to the 40f bag in order to add more warmth? Thanks!
I have a hammock, and a Klymit air insulate jacket. What are some gears would you recommend to use for adding warmth? Thanks!
Hi, I just ordered a GoLite 1+ season. It's rated 40*F. I was wondering if anyone has any experience carrying a 40 F bag on the AT and how did you handle the cold weather. How cold could it get on...
I tried at home many times. I found they are comfortable for back sleepers. I also tried to sleep on my side, and it performed as well. My question is, can you use the pad with a quilt on top?
I hope to get out there in 2014.
I have been wanting to look for expeditions- anywhere on earth, Antarctica, north pole, anywhere. I just don't know where to start, and how to train for one. So I thought I would ask my fellow AT...
Moose2001, my time frame is somewhat crunched. I don't get much vacation. If go back to school, the max. length vacation I have will be 5-mid aug. which gives me 3 and a half month to do something.
Garlic08, loved your post. I agree the best way for me to enjoy the AT is to hike my own pace, too. In this way, I probably will be able to meet with more people, have all kinds of conversations. It...
RocketSocks, I agree with you 100%. I like to hike my own pace. And being breakfree of spending time on my own.
Hi Scrub Hiker, I think a three hours conversation would let me establish pretty good relationships. I used to talk to the people sitting next to me on the airplane, and ended up talking the entire...
MAGS, thanks for the advice. I will just smell the roses on the trail then. :)
ScottP, I like hiking too.
Thank you leaftye, that makes me feel much better.
Thanks GG-man, I appreciate the journal. Very detailed. Did you use a hammock or tent or just tarp? What was it like camping on the trail most of the nights, did you worry about the bugs, insects,...
Hi, I am very very new to speed hiking, and to the AT. I am short on time, which is the No.1 reason I am considering a fast hike. I have done a few triathlons and marathons, so I hope I will be...
