Aren't Crocs a little bit heavy? I've got some cheap adidas sandals that are molded as one piece and extremely light. The only downside is that they don't strap by themselves onto my backpack.

I'm curious, does anyone know of successful 300+ lb thru hikers? I'm sure it could be done; they'd have to be really tough. What's the heaviest you've ever seen a person complete a thru hike?

The other challenge would be arranging for pickup once you've hiked Belle Isle. It doesn't look too big - maybe a couple days hike? Is there even a trail?
They say the IAT ends at Belle Isle on the Northern end of Newfoundland Island. But how does one get to Belle Isle? It is an uninhabited island. Have those who hiked the full IAT in the past paid...
