Hey Ricky&Jack, did you ever end up MYOGing a backpack? hammock?
Glad the vids were helpful. Working on my next pack now but just dont have time to make a tutorial. I have two more packs to make...
I spent several weekends working it. The whole process was quite enjoyable for me so I spent alot more time than needed.
With shipping it was around $100 but about $70 if you were to use something...
Forgot to mention, the main front pocket is removable and can be clipped to a belt for day hiking from camp.
Here is few pics of the frame and the pack inside out to see how it sets in it.

So I just finished my first MYOG backpack and I am pretty excited about it. Going to start on the next one in a few weeks because I had so much fun building the first one.
I am calling this one the...
Never been to GSMNP, can you not use hammocks there?
Still no rust. The wire mesh has a few spots. I'll snap som pics tomorrow. It has stayed in the shed since it was made which is abuse that none of my gear suffers normally. Think I will make a woven...
Pretty cool idea. Thanks for sharing
K I did a few more burn tests last night and filled it with fuel. The steel wool still looks the same so far. Been leaving the stove in the shed and I dont see any rust forming anywhere. Perhaps if I...
So far, haven't seen any rust or degradation of the steel wool but its still too soon to tell. Only have 3 burns in on it. Ill run a few more burns tonight and put alot more fuel in it and see how it...
Spill proof is a good feature to have but I think it would be pretty hard to tip this stove over. Its center of weight is so low and its height:diameter ratio is pretty good for stability.
Yeah wouldnt be surprised to see many stoves already out there that this stove is similar to. Just sharing our findings with some materials that we had on hand. This could be easily done with carbon...
Makes more sense to do it the way you suggested. Thanks for the suggestion.
This type of stove probably isnt new but I thought Id share it anyways. Me and my friend "Dayglow" were trying to make him a smaller stove for his mini-caldera cone and ended up making this out of...
Nice job on it...Looks good..
Not sure about the tape but I think you would be fine with a Quilt..You could always make a heat arrestor like I put on mine to trap any air movements when the bag doesnt make tight contact with the...
Nice...Beats ducktape and reflectix colors...lol
Nice...I have been using Carbon felt finger gloves for awhile now and they have worked great.
That thing is sweet...Gonna try and make one soon out of some DIY Silnylon Marpat camo I got..
Nice, I have used that fabric before and love it.
Looks good...Was thinking about making one of these for late spring and early fall hammocking.
Now that is pretty cool...The weight may not be optimal but the cost sure is.
+1 on this....Thinking about DIYing a TQ with that Argon fabric..
Pretty cool...Agreed that it has a high fiddle factor..
