Alcoholic beverages are expressly forbidden in state parks in GA, NC, VA, MD, and PA. National Forests and Parks may or may not have restrictions depending on where you are. Then you have local...
Ridgerest SoLite would do what you're asking and it's cheap. You could probably cut reflectix to size too.
Are you cold all over?
Toss a bouillon cube into your boil and you have tortellini soup
Makes me think of the Werner Herzog film, Happy People.
Who else googled flights to Vegas after reading this thread? :)
Another trick to getting a richer consistency to veggie chili is adding creamy peanut butter. 1 tablespoon is enough for a large pot and you won't notice any change in taste.
The cocoa butter fat definitely helps to achieve a stewy consistency. Emulsifying your chili paste and liquids in a blender also helps.
I figured you for a slow food kinda guy. Lol
I made this chili the other day and decide to try dehydrating it in my air fryer. I tore up yellow corn tortillas and added them before dehydrating. Stale cornbread would work too.

The trail is open again from Oyster point to hwy 306, but best bet is to contact the ranger station before heading out there. Looks like the Duke energy project has a lot to be done.
I hiked it...
Also, if you tend to roll or slide off your sleeping pad, pad goes inside bivy. No more waking up on the cold ground
I imagine those 237 miles were difficult physically, mentally, and logistically.

Where's Tipi? This thread was made for him and a good hunker down story :)
There was a lot of beauty to be found. Truly massive trees, mushrooms galore, birds everywhere, even the feral hogs are cute, albeit destructive. Definitely go when it's cold and the river level is...
If you really prefer your trailrunners you could use waterproof socks and or a wool felt insoles.
I have been to Kings Mt. But have not done the big loop. This is my plan B for the neusiok, so a swampy trail and camping on the river is actually what I'm looking for. Feral pigs is a bonus ;)
Thanks for the info, especially about the size of the trees. Not knowing, I would have left the xl straps at home.
I had to bail on the neusiok trail this weekend, so I'm looking at wandering the trails in Congaree and spending a night backcountry camping. Anyone been there and have an opinion on the best trails...
Update
I contacted friends of MST and the Croatan NF Ranger office. MST thought the trail was open but there is still work being done by Duke Power. The entire trail is marked closed. Bummer. Time...
Thanks. Found it on their website. Still closed from Pine Cliffs to 306.
I'm just glad most of the trail has reopened. I've been wanting to do this for a while and next weekend looks good.
Anybody been on this trail since they reopened it? Is it still closed north of Hwy 306?
The misogyny is boring. What's the beef with ghost tour guides?
